Dungeon mastering and creative writing and going a bit too far with your fantasies, including your darkest ones. Self-search and all that.
Yeah, I was also more content when it was nothing but sexy dungeoneering but I’m beginning to understand, I think, what is the undelying plot. Only after this page, not a minute before, I must say.
‘El Mariachi’ was much much better. Not sure how relevant it is but maybe there’s a wormhole link between this issue of creators typically falling down from genius to mediocrity as their budgets grow (or just as they age) and the issue of exploring the darkest side of fantasy. Or maybe not but in any case I, Urist the angry dwarf, like Robert Rodrígued for ‘El Mariachi’ and not for his Tarantinadas, similarly like the Tarantino of ‘Reservoir Dogs’ (but not later production), the Spike Lee of ‘Do the Right Thing’ but not so much later works, and so on and so on and so on.
Yeah, I did like the simplicity of El Mariachi when Rodriguez had zero budget to work with, and I haven’t really cared much for the more recent Tarantino movies, but that’s probably just my changing tastes as I get older. Still, I think Django Unchained was a perfect revenge film, and probably my favorite of all his movies. So, maybe it’s just artists getting more self-indulgent as they mature and making what they want to make to keep themselves interested. I’m certainly guilty of that! 8)
Basically everything we’ve seen for the past few years ties this fantasy world into the real world.
Jen was a DnD player who died in a car crash on the way home from her friends’ house, who is somehow bonded to her DnD character (I.E, the main character elf w/ blue hair).
The DM is also paired with the Dracomage, who is fully aware of their bond and attempting to get his other half in the “real” world to not kill himself from depression after Jen’s death, as well as attempting to force him to move forward with the “plot” of the fantasy world.
When Jen died in the real world, it coincided with the defeat of the Destroyer and the resolution of the last arc. Her soul now resides in the body of the main character in the fantasy world, and we’re just now finding out exactly what that means and what Wormius has planned for this whole pretzel of a plot.
In the end, you can speculate all day on the metaphysical and philosophical implications of the story… but it’s better to just strap in for the ride and enjoy the tits on your way.
I get it too. What I like is how he is weaving the story. Very subtle. Very nasty. In a way, very dangerous and dark in his approach. This is a sign of a good story teller, but you have to read the entire web comic to understand it’s complexity. I like his style. It keeps you guessing. Oh and boobs. You can’t forget the boobs.
I like Bree’s expression in the incentive art. ‘sigh’ “Not this again!”
Heh heh 8)
after all this time, i still have no clue about the plot of this story

Well, just like ‘From Dusk Till Dawn’ it was all going fine till the plot forgot to take a left turn at Albuquerque

Can the story start making sense again … please?
I’m trying! 8)
Finally, the answer. It’s pretty much what I expected since the Thunderbird summoning.

Umm, is there a missing page? Seems the fight finale got skipped.
Did we really need to spend a month on the fight? o_O
Yea, after all the foreplay, no crescendo.
This mage looks … peculiar.
Please don’t have him summon a phone booth.
Heh heh, no phone booths incoming. 8)
“This stuff is more valuable than allergy spray!”
Isn’t that just pollen?
