Methinks Sings To Foxes sees himself as having no choice in the matter. He is an enemy to her, but doesn’t want to fight. He can’t run, he can’t hide. So dying becomes his only out.
Nah, he’s a primitive bound by some arbitrary rules invented by primitive people who are long dead and gone. Dragon threatened to kill him so he gave this stupid oath. What the hell should the victim keep loyalty to the abuser?
To be fair, he’s in an actual magical world that appears to have actual gods with priests able to perform miracles in evidence of the gods. So it’s not like some savage primitives believing in the unverifiable.
Now, you could argue those gods have some pretty poor and inflexible rules, but without a chance to argue and the entry to afterlife and loved ones on the table, you can understand why the mortals might follow despite whatever they think
Lol you know nothing about moral code of honor, every person has it some stronger than others if your response to its a primitives race thing you’re wrong armed forces teach you the meanings granted it’s hard to follow for people like you that think honor is nothing..
To some honor is EVERYTHING and the orc shaman is taking the easy way out as you say because he is gave his word and fealty to the dragon
In this fantasy world, what charlesw81 says is understandable regarding this situation.
In the real world, however?
The problem with people in the real world who think honor is everything is that they tend to view life as worthless. If they really think honor is everything, then truly, they have nothing.
Death as the only means to restore honor? I feel bad for Sings to Foxes. May play games where I might fulfil his wish, but in real life I would hesitate.
I mean, the most likely explanation is that Cherek obeyed Achaeax and left the battle, abandoning his people to bring Warmheart to him.
Then Miko has likely run the bell, disabling the attackers. But it’s a toss up if the defenders would just kill them while they’re down or take them prisoner.
Whatever happened to the Delver’s Laws that were included in early strips? One of them was #1297 (on strip 8 I think), so it seems that a lot of these were planned. They just stopped being included in the strips at some point.
Both story and art have really come on, to new levels….It just gets better and better. Love the moral dilemma here, and the expressions of the two characters, Superb. Love the final panel….leaving us in suspense yet again!
Dying and leaving others to sort out the mess? Shaman took an easy way out. Oh well.

The bell ranged…..good or bad?
Depends who you think of it as bad for.

The saying “death before dishonor” means Alot to some people…
This what the orc shaman is doing he’d rather die than bring dishonor to his clan

Oh, that was a very, very long time ago! The argument might be we are no longer in the Delve, but the Upper World of the Elves, Orcs and Goblins…
Maybe Miko rang the bell?
No, that “bong” is just the noise of Bree hitting Sings’ head really, really hard with the emptied wine bottle. 😉
(Kidding, of course it’s the bell.)
You sure you don’t want any last dying wishes? You’ve got a naked elf girl sitting and drinking with you. No? Okay… your loss I guess.

Damn, would have liked to see how he got his name
Anyone who sings to foxes can’t be all bad (and he proved it)
