Always seemed obvious Paige was not from the ‘Graysider’ world, but from the ‘Delve/elf’ universe, however, as remarked elsewhere, here the subtle confirmation that Jen’s backstory is that of a Mexican-American. Remember her darker skin-tone when she was in colour with Bree and Mala, way back debating the ultimate wearer of the crown?
Love to see democracy at work! Nice to see the gang back together again.
I can’t really tell how this page excludes Paige as a greysider, unless it’s the author note itself.
I do wonder if people in the world can BECOME greysiders though. Unless the pair are linked at birth and only strengthen their connection when the greysider of the pair starts gaming and connecting with the character, I could see circumstances where a greysider starts a game and forges a new link to a character who then becomes an avatar.
Go back to when Paige (still a comparative new arrival to the Delve story-line) was in the Found and met Charlie in the ‘pocket world’ of Jen’s apartment. She had no real understanding of the ‘Graysider’ world, or the connection between her sister Bree and game-player Jen. Even the photo of Jen and Brian obviously puzzled her, while later, at the monastery, she again queried that Bree “had changed” – was she still Bree? With Bree assuring her, yes, but something else also. Finally, in with encounter with Mala and her buddies, Bree/Jen fully understands their origins, while Paige is confronted to question her previous beliefs. None of the previous ‘Graysiders’ – certainly not Morgana – treat her as one of them, unlike their acceptance of Bree/Jen. So far, only Bree, Sark and crazy schoolgirl Imugi have been revealed as ‘Graysiders;, i.e., from ‘our’ world. Paige certainly always belonged to the ‘Delve’ world of elves, orcs and dragons.
That last panel, our banker bunny has a certain sly look. Two possibilities: she isn’t who she claims to be (think the Mindripper when we first met him), or she isn’t quite as ‘good and innocent’ in her character as she has seemed so far, and sees the bag as a means to extract ‘lost things’ from her own – still shadowy – past. In other words, red light flashing! The face says it all.
…she seemed good and innocent?! Really? She’s working in the reposession division of a bank! And came here looking for the gold mine. Gee, no way such a person would like to get a hand on the Bag of Infinite Loot! /s
I think… Paige was the FIRST character of Jen, in a Tutoriel of the game just before linking herself with Bree… so, Paige is not a graysider BUT she do have a connection to it like Bree… that’s my theory up to that point.
A theory based on absolute ZERO evidence. When we first learn that Bree was Jen’s gamer character, Paige hadn’t even appeared. Until “Delve” moved to the dragon world, we didn’t even know – I suspect Mr Hunter didn’t even know – that Bree had a sister. A so-called ‘theory’ plucked from nowhere, with nothing to support or suggest it.
Of course Betrys gets a bunny outfit. OF COURSE.
That’s a really sidey side-eye she’s got in the last panel. Maybe keep the bag, but *don’t* let her have it.

Nice bunny suit, btw. That clearly came out of the bag. But, who pulled it?
And there is a bit of the Betrys we got introduced to…
Plus Bunny Suit.
I for one would indeed like to see Bree fighting a dragon in a Quinceanera dress

Usually RPG gamers take every single peace of loot they can. And throwing away entire Bag of Infinitive Loot… It’s almost sacrilege

i hate it when protagonists go “this miraculous magic thing is a hazard, let’s destroy it!”
keep a little magic in your life, for gosh darn sake! stop destroying artefacts!
Betty Bunbun offering to carry the possibly dangerous Bag of Everything Lost (BoEL)?
Yeah, nothing sus about that…

Good point. Let’s hope Bree (or Jen) keeps her eyes on banker bunny as the story unfolds.
