Well, that confirms post-fight healing IS allowed. It also confirms Cherek did finish the job off-panel (likely just wiggled his fingernails towards her heart).
Most importantly, Sark’s reaction (“WAY beyond angry”) compared with their reactions to another Orc chieftain being brutally (if fairly) killed in another fight, also DO confirm to which extent the “do not cheat using magic or external help” is a huge deal in Orc culture. I kind of see their point. Death in a fair duel is an acepted risk, almost an accident; killing a rival using cheats is outright murder.
So you’re not allowed to cheat in a fight, but if someones calls you out on this, Orcs will determine who is right with another fight? What’s to stop Cherek to use the same method of cheating to win a fight over whether he cheated in previous fight? Unless the accusers can demand removal of item that they think was used to cheat earlier, then that wouldn’t make sense.
It would be like accusing someone of bribing an official and them having the matter be judged by the official they allegedly gave bribe to.
Welcome to the hilarious world of “trial by combat”. Now you see why it was removed from actual law in the real world as soon as we got to the Modern Age.
I think this system could somewhat work if done right. They have no proof of cheating yet… they could have used magic themselves to burn insides out after she was dead. But now that accusation is made, everyone will watch closely, body of loser will be examined closely, and guards on alert to attempt to kill Cherek if shown he cheated and tries to resist.
Surely Sark just has to say naked means naked, take off the scale on your forehead. Cherek still has the scissor-hands, but maybe they don’t work without the scale. He seems pretty dumb-ass without blue dragon telling him what to do.
By the way, blue dragon doesn’t seem to be up to speed on the Bree bondage situation. Another mistake.
Not wanting to be “that gal” myself, but Vherek is positively oh SO going to be “that guy” and insist that, since Renata was allowed to keep her headband, he is to keep his headscale
He killed Pen, who I liked, and the old chef, and now Renata, that makes three. Bree better get her arse into gear rather than drinking with the immortals.
Ignore this comment. Cherek didn’t kill Gaiian. My memory failed me – chalk it to my age. The one he killed with his own hands was the elven girl he personally sacrified in comic 489.
“Cherek, you are accused of cheating in a duel. How do you plead?”
“I will face my accuser in a duel!”
…I think I’ve found a flaw in the system.
As I mentioned, that’s more or less the reason “trial by combat” is no longer a part of IRL legal systems.
And so I guess we get a confirmed death of her. And I feel for Sha’Ni . Seeing her reaction of her like this made me another emotional

BTW, Necrovert, you have too many comics named “Aftermath” (this one (579), 526 and 31 AT LEAST)
Dangit! This is what comes o’ thinkin’ too much. Ye wear out yer thinker an’ cain’t think o’ nothin’ new!
You can have more than one aftermath…

Rip that scale off his head… and shove it up his giant green arsehole!!!!!!

*Cherek
Damn you, lack of edit button…
That scaly-fucker is a black dragon (Breen already killed the blue)
Granted, if more a sort of navy-blue-cum-black maybe? Not completely black (except the heart).
So Cherek has now killed two of my favorite minor characters. Also, what happens if Bree kills his dragon mentor before/during his fight with Sark?

In see how nobody remembers Gaiian. Typical.

I love how her pubes are peeking out of her underwear. That’s a nice detail.
Thanks!
