I’m reminded of a scene in one of the early/middle-Heinlein novels where a human went into an alien temple to see what the “gods” were about. It did not go well for the human.
Four pages with three nameless characters who mentioned yet another poorly defined esoteric concept before being whisked out of the plot with all the gravitas of your co-worker going out for lunch, while the other characters act like this is some tragic event.
What even the fuck is the story being told anymore.
Yeah, “the other characters” care for those “three nameless characters” enough try to save from eternal torment and apparently succeed but then it turns out they’ve merely granted them release of death. Gee, I wonder why they act like this is “some tragic event”.
“Well,” the surgeon says, straightening up and stepping away from the patient who has just flatlined, “good thing I was never told his name or I would probably think of that death as some tragic event. Then again, I’ve wasted an hour of my life on this ultimately pointless operation so I guess it is somewhat tragic. Hmm.”
“This is my tunnel! It was made for me!”
Well, see you on the other side, I guess.
Yeah got mild Amigara Fault vibes from this
Bree is right. Doubt the gods. Confront them.
I hope he doesn’t mind being stuck in the tunnel with two naked women and two women who will likely be stripped naked by the gods.
Ooh, Ragnarok! I like it.
Signed,
Loki (who is the same as Prometheus and is also the same as Maju). Time to walk the rainbow bridge, guys!
Go get’em Breen!
“This Way to Egress”? Thank you, P. T. Barnum!
Dungeon Master: “Hey, who put these two new miniatures in the box?”
You…you, whoever, whatever you are…You made my little sister cry! I’m gonna get you!
Fascinating sub-story arc, and consistently great art.

They are not nameless, Paige named at last one of them
