Fight!

Just what is Pinky signalling in Panel 1? Peace? Victory? Round 2?
It’s the symbol used by roman gladiators to ask for mercy. If the fight had been entertaining and the guy running the show was in a good mood, the defeated gladiator would live to fight another day. If the fight was poor, or not enough blood had been spilled, mercy was denied to sate the appitites of the crowd.
Or, in this case, mercy (or not) to be decided by votes in this week’s “Riddle of the Dracomage” poll.
The proper signaling for asking mercy would actually be a raised single finger (major) or the whole left hand, definitely not the V sign.

*index* ! I meant index not major of course 🙂
The picture in that article clearly shows a V-like sign, whatever the article itself says.
You do realise that the majority of Gladiators were, while technically slaves, considered respectable athletes, not much unlike modern basketball or football players
The ‘fights to the death’ were usually just with captured enemies or political prisoners
What are the odds that Princess Sephni is now providing a lovely new home for a reincarnated Draxxorel?
… in exchange for Bree to live?
Was episode 199 a contract? Will we find out this week? Or will there be round 3?
Just love the way how you managed to make this relatively “boring” story about Princess Sephni’s chances of survival into a most amenable gladiatrix show, Wormius. Just delicious… XD
Thanks!
Any news can be improved by gladiatrix shows:
People: ‘Something is rotten in Rome’
Emperor: ‘The Roman empire is overrun by barbarians and we are all going to die … but look at the breasts on her and watch her fight this lion!’
People: ‘Yeah, look at her fight, Woohoo!!’
There is of course option number 3. The Princess lives, but remains in the ruins and rubble of the temple.
Moon Blades hands work better when there is a sword in them. She is a living weapon after all.
I wonder if she is still bound to Bree in some way?
She’s a badass once she’s got her sword, and now she’s acquired a rather attractive shield as well.
