It’s All in the Reflectses
Mar13
Gads! This had to be the hardest layout I ever did for a Delve episode. I wound up redrawing it like three times, and I’m still hoping it reads well enough that we don’t need Mister Prancy to explain what just happened.
So all the knowledge in the world is reflected back at her? hmm, i think the Goddess prepared Bree for this, that “Talk” they had a while ego after she paralyzed Paraxyss and did stuff to the sword must be related to this. good going Andrew, unless the goddess dies anyway in the next page!
I’m just hoping that “all the knowledge in the world” includes “how to cure magical poisoning”
Nefice was right about one thing, though. Nogrog does have beautiful eyes.
That was the very first thing I thought of too – “Wow, she really *does* have beautiful eyes!”
Yep, really loving those eyes π
I’m intrigued. So many possible outcomes. Will she still turn to stone? Will she suddenly be normal? Will she ascend to a higher plane and become a true goddess? My blue skin tringles in anticipation.
Me sees the sword glowing green !
Seems to me she’s “earned” the right to use it now.
i wonder if it’ll continue to bitch with her about backstabbing though ?
That green glow is the fading effects of being shot in the back a few pages back.
I think that is still the poison!
Moondick normally glows blue, so, still being a sulky dickblade
Again, I mean seriously, WHY wouldn’t she close her eyes?!?
She seems resigned to it, in the first panel, after a lifetime of dreading it, and may have wanted to just get it over with, knowing that Nefice could simply force her eyelids open eventually anyway.
Shock? The removal of the mask forced her eyes to open?
As long as it took to draw, I can only imagine how long it took to come up with the strip title! π
It is a little known fact that all wood elves are distantly related to Jack Burton.
Was just about to comment on the “BTiLC”, although maybe should have gone with green eyes for Nog π
all I know is if the goddess dies I will make all my ranger charters hunt naga,s till their are no more starting with little miss evil green
Nooooo! Not Paraxyss too! π
and oh ya can bre so needs to get a cleric in her group like fast she is still taking damage OI
Aww . . .
She has blue eyes π
WHAT???
Did NO ONE ELSE NOTICE that her dress exploded when the mask came off? She’s nekkid!!
Naked goddess!!
π π π π π
Her mask exploded. I don’t see any sign that her dress did. You can’t really tell in that 6th frame, because her dress didn’t come up that high.
So, while I think you did a fine job to set the scene, got the angle right and a good flow on this page, and it works … me dumb, Duh, me no get it, this not clear, could we please have Mr P. to tell us what it means?
(Note: It is really difficult to write a sentence in mono-sybillic speech, but I want to see/read Mister Prancy, please. His last outing was hilarious).
My brother Prancy, apparently could not be troubled to stop by. I expect too busy consorting with that gun-toting boor Phawkes again. Fah!
I suppose I shall have to see what I can do in his absence:
Panel 1: Nefice prepares to unlock Nogrog’s mask with the magic rune key. A bit of exposition on the villain’s part while waiting for the hero to intervene.
Panel 2: A bit more exposition on Nefices’s part, as Bree has not acted yet. Villains are apparently obligated to do this sort of thing until the hero is ready to act.
Panel 3: Or is this part of panel 2 still? One can’t really see the divider. In any case, Bree, still poisoned, looks on.
Panel 4: Ah, Bree has an idea, she picks up a large shard from the mirror which she broke in the prior strip.
Panel 5: Now that Bree is ready to stop her, Nefice finally gets around to unlocking the Nogrog’s mask with the magic key.
Panel 6: The Nogrog’s mask begins to glow and crack.
Panel 7: The mask explodes. Nefice seems pleased with this turn of events.
Panel 8: Bree, again topless for at least the thousandth time in the strip, flings the mirror shard toward Nefice and the Nogrog.
Panel 9: As planned, at just the right moment, the mirror shard passes between Nefice and the Nogrog, so that the Nogrog’s first sight is her own reflection. Not what Nefice was hoping for. I expect that if this works, she’s going to be kicking herself for wearing that mask all this time when she could have just looked in a mirror. Still, she does seem to have done an excellent job of grooming, washing, exfoliating, and such under that mask for the past couple decades. Not a trace of Mask-Grunge to be seen. Rather impressive, I say.
Yes, yes, I know. Iβm no Mr. Prancy. You take what you can get.
Well done, Mr. Fancy, well done.
Thank you Mr Fancy! The thing with the mask grunge is puzzling; it was probably removed by the magical build-in nose scratcher.
Wow! No comments on Bree’s boobs yet? I’d say this community was evolving if I didn’t know better. XD
It IS a nice page layout. Good work there. Good artwork too, as always. π
Thanks for the update!
Thanks! Glad you liked it.
Something tells me the Nefice will not be amused..
And that Para might somehow get off on the murder intent I expect will be oozing off Nefice.
I gotta say, the timing on a throw like that had to be absolutely perfect! There would have only been a split second when the mirror fragment would come between their eyes, and it had to be just the right exact split second to interrupt the transfer of knowledge and power between the two. That, plus Bree’s throw also had to put the mirror fragment in just the right position between them at the right angle to reflect the Nogrog’s gaze back at herself. That was a one-in-a-million throw there, a truly epic bit of heroism, and it’s probably going to cost Bree dearly as the exertion speeds up her body’s absorption of the poison into her system.
She rolled a natural 20. Wonderful thing about living in a d&d type world – even a one-in-a-million shot always has at least a 5% chance of success. Of course, if you live in a Hollywood-action-hero type world, you’re even better off – any one-in-a-million shot needed at a critical moment by the hero has a 100% chance of success!
Now you made me want to see a movie where the hero shoots the hostage on accident, just so we can witness his/her mental anguish π
Actually, it’s the Diskworld where one-in-a-million shots always come up.
So if you absolutely have to make the shot, you do it with a warped arrow and cracked bow, while facing away, blindfolded and balancing on one toe on the very tip of a cathedral spire…

Most excellent! Did not see that coming and Bree is in fine form. So, now what will the goddess do?
“Upon reflection, the enemy succumbed”
*goes to get a copy of Bullard: Tales of the Patrol (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EPFJ87W) to double check the quote ^_^*
Sorry, it’s:
“After reflection, the enemy succumbed.
BULLARD”

Wow, surprise! Not at all what I expected. Two pages ago I was thinking that she would turn her gaze to Bree in the last minute but after what she said in the previous page I was not so sure anymore. But I could not imagine this outcome, very much unexpected (a bit hollywoodian but fair enough).
What now?!
BTW, great panels, especially the seventh one: lovely bust. π
Thank you!
I think the last panel ist *supposed* to be the nogrog looking into her own eyes (the old mirror trick), but technically *we* wouldn’t see her face in the mirror shard in that case (the shard is too small for that). Considering the perspective, she would likely look into Bree’s eyes right now.
Flashing Bree’s boobs like this, all is forgiven, all is forgiven my child.

damn, that’s allot of comments, congrats Andrew, your work is sure paying off π
Thanks!
Just found it.
Just binged it.
Adding it to my reading list.
Thanks, and welcome!
Explain what happened ? Bree’s shirt came off, her boobs are out, standing proud.
Wait. Was there plot in here? Ive looked three times, but i haven’t seen it.
YES!
