Salutations!
DM here, and what a lovely day it is!
Sorry to interrupt all the kissy-kissy business with Ratigan and the Ringu girl, but someone mentioned my little death riddle game, and I thought it might be a good time to start passing out the prizes.
We’ll start with the Cookie King. Ah, it seems he scored a 314 in the voting, and “Even Means Greavin’” as they say. Hah hah hah… well, he’s dead now, whatever they say.
As for the delayed updates you may have been noticing recently, we’re terribly sorry about that. Mr. Hunter was up rather late last night writing a heart-felt apology to the fans and trying to explain the difficulties he is currently facing. There was some weeping involved. I’d have laughed more if it wasn’t so pathetic. Still, I need him functioning, so I took pity and cast “Gentle Slumber” on him so that he could finally get some sleep. Well, I would have cast it, but I was saving the mana for something more important, so I just had one of the painmice taser him into unconsciousness.
I’ll spare you the woeful tooth-gnashing and give you a quick synopsis of what he was trying to tell you all before my minions sent him off to twitchy-twitchy dreamland.
“Life is hard. He is sad. You people are great”… And he’s doing his best to tell this story the way it should be told.
He ended on some suitably hopeful and upbeat note, which he was probably going to revise yet again to make it seem even more hopeful, but that was just about the time the taser prongs made contact, and his head hit the keyboard.
He’ll be fine.
As for my Delve, rest assured, its story will be told, but there are changes coming, so… be prepared.
Oh, and if you really want to see what happened with Drippy and Lefty, just click on the Vote Incentive art below.
What a lovely day!
Holy crap, it’s beginning!!!
Also, where’s the vote incentive? I’m not seeing it.
If you don’t see the “Breathless” post below, just click on the “Vote” button on the right side of the page, under Tanys’s butt.
Ah, thanks for pointing that out.
And woooooooow this week’s incentive is amazing.
Went and saw Mad Max did you? I will admit it’s an amusing documentary on life in the Badlands portion of the surface. Most enjoyable.
As for the length of time between posts, tell Mr. Hunter not to worry about it. Everyone has their own pace, and given the high quality of the strip, a week to a week and a half is compleatly acceptable. As for cutting quality to boost production speed, that would only be acceptable for that Pride and Prancy business I keep hearing about, because, lets face it shall we, how could it be done in anything other then taseful black and white?
Convay my regards to Mr. Hunter as well as my apreciation for what he’s doing, and try not to taser him too much. You don’t want the line art to get all squigly after all.
Regards,
-Bal.
P.S. I like the header graphic. It’s very “you”.
Thank you, and we’ll try to keep the tasering to a minimum. 8)
Dear DM. I believe that the problem is not quantity vs quality but that you don’t use the shockworms often enough. You’re a softie. :p
On a side note: I love the cookie-sword, really!

Heh, i have a sneeking suspicion that the DM is going to go all GRRM on us.
Cookie King get’s a properly ignominious death…
Carry on, good D.M.
Not even D.M. gets a properly ignominious death…
Wait…Did I say…

As the Cookie King, he simply MUST have a worthy weapon…The Cookie Cutter!
For the record, your Alternative DM personality is very much how mine is when DMing so that’s highly amusing.
However if I can shed some light on this quandary. I think its fair to say the majority of us are lifers on this comic (meaning no matter what were gonna keep reading) so you have your fan base either way. That being said you should stress to apologize to us for your absents and slow posts. Its your life sir unless your “redrum” DM persona is taking over then god speed lol.
Back to the question Quality over Quantity. Business 101 always says quality is better for business and I tend to agree with that logic. So how do you keep your loyal fan base while posting slower and infrequently? You set a schedule. Figure in an estimate on how long it’ll take to do a page on average with your current time scale and add a week to it (to accommodate for emergencies or even to get a head on the next scheduled post. This way we all know when to check the page and were not checking it everyday not knowing when you’re gonna update we know you make a post in 3 week intervals on Thursday night or some such. As with any DM, a little preparation goes a long way for enjoyment of your players. Just some friendly DM suggestions. I hope things get better bud. Best of luck.
This is why you need to proof read before you post. Insert Shouldnt where should is in the 2nd paragraph
I know right? Would be great to be able to ‘Edit’..
Ditto… up to the second paragraph.
While I reckon that Wormius has refined his style A LOT as the comics moved ahead and is doing great great great art as of late, I began reading with the old style and I kind of miss it. Also a less perfected, hard-worked, style may be best for a comic.
Also shockwyrms for the win! ;P
Thank you for your support. I really appreciate it.
As for a posting schedule, I’ve always agonized over doing it. I know it would be good for the comic, but I’ve had a terrifying aversion to deadlines since 3rd grade. I had a rather psychotic teacher who took homework very, very seriously… child welfare, not so much. The thought of having something due at a certain time every week leaves me with the cold shakes. I can do a ton of work as long as I don’t HAVE to do the work, but the minute I have to have something done by a certain date and time, I just sort of ball up on the floor crying “Don’t hit me!”.
OK, that last part is a bit of an exaggeration, but not by much. 8)
So… do these count as hackers? XD
*puts on sunglasses*
So, that’s how the cookie empire crumbles.
Just found your comic a few days ago, and have been enjoying the read through so far! Great art style, can only imagine the time it takes, so thanks for doing it!
Also, can’t seem to find that vote incentive for Drippy and Lefty. Doesn’t seem to be in your archived vote incentive either 🙁
Am I the only one that noticed the reference to Ashbringer in the sword? C’mon, other people here gotta play WoW. 🙂 I think I like the cookie version the best though!
Being on the safe side is very important! Excellent work, gentlelizards!
