Brian is a jerk, quite clearly… but, anyhow, I thought all the time it was a “real” story in a fantasy setting, I was immersed, and this is pretty much a letdown. Nah, never ever agin mix round and pointy ears.
I always vote, so I always see the voting incentives. And I do not remember any such hint, sorry (must be incipient alzheimer or something).
At most I can make the connection via the dice they mined at the Cookie Gnomes place or some other meta-references, but I always took them as gamer humor rather than part of the plot.
… I felt a great disturbance in the Storyline, as if millions of Plot Points suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened…
Original way to go but, yeah quite the brutal twist. I am very curious in what is coming next.
Oh…. š®
“Week 38 āJen Gets a Letterā: Iāve never mentioned it before, but there is another level of reality behind the events taking place in the Delve, and I think itās time that I started giving you a little glimpse into something that is happening in a realm far beyond the control of the Dracomage. So donāt be alarmed if you donāt recognize the young woman in the bonus art this week, but I assure you that much will hinge on her decisions in the days to come.”
I really certainly hope this isn’t the end of the story š I liked it a lot but this would be one of those I regret having read it cases. that is beyond depressing.
Man fuck that man. If this is the end its a cop out ending. Its liek the end of the sopranos. I feel liek Its Rei zero all over again with Rin saying he loves emilia. fuck.
Okay, this is interesting. Maybe now’s a good time to reread the whole thing, just so I can remember if the woman who just fell down was a relevant character. But I do hope that the session is going to continue from this point onward.
Well..Relevant or not, it was the whole reason for Jen to be playing. I’ve done tabletop before. The number one killer of a game is someone with a mindset that the only thing that matters is their end goal. They’re not in it for the adventure.
And here I thought that the point of the adventure was to run around naked. Huh.
So that means if we have to look at non-naked people for the next few months, this comic is going to drop out of the top 50. ;-p I think it’s in Wormius’ best interest to drag Jen back to the table ASAP.
I also thought that the whole point of the adventure was running around naked, along with the story, which so far was engaging. So those OOC ghostly people without ears pointly enough to exist in a fantasyland better find something sexy to do IRL or looking bad.
My impression is that real-life drama is leaking into the storyline and that’s “corruption”.
Sephni was the excuse for Bree to go on adventure. Her only role so far was “damsel in distress” and later, after a goreish and voreish episode, psychotic post-stress-traumatic-disordered person with BIG QUESTION MARK on her sanity and meaning in the storyline. Could she be saved at all after what she had gone through and what “she had become” in the words of the cultist priest? Now it seems she has died but wasn’t she immortal? Is Jen freaking out about nothing? Who is Jen in the storyline? Why should I even care?
Dang, i didn’t expect this. It just reminds me about the “why are you following the comic” vote, where only like 25% said they were following for the story. Meaning that most of us didn’t catch on to the hidden story that was told from page 1
Having looked through the series again, the hints were honestly here all along. The Dracomage offers Bree a number of jobs after she finishes he quest, and she says that she’s “leaving the Delve forever.” Then he just drops a bunch of super-high-level gear on her, yet another case of him favoring her because this is her special game. We even get a brief glimpse at the real world at one point when “Bree” zones out a bit.
I think it’s going a little deeper than that, though. I think that the Delve is a real world, one that these players are unwittingly manipulating, as there are clearly way more characters than players and they seem to be completely disconnected from the story of Brian and Jen.
Also, did anyone else notice that the enchanted sword’s human form looks like Jen? I always thought she looked a lot like Bree, and the glasses were kind of random. Perhaps Brian made her to be an idealistic version of her.
wow, it’s the end of high school all over aging makes me miss my old D&D group. its ok brian friends come and go but the story that never ends cause and I know this is soooo corny but we are all a part of a never ending story never forget that that ok
Even so, Brian is still being a jerk. Face it, he’s more concerned about his own feelings, but not isn’t respecting what decisions Jen has to make for her life. He’s being more devoted to himself & that’s an indicator that he doesn’t really love her.
Ah, I know that feeling well. I left my last gaming group after the GM and the rest of the party (including the fucking PALADIN) decided it was a cool idea to genocide my character’s species.
Well, that’s what you get for singling one player out. %) Though sometimes it’s (almost) inevitable. Still, it’s better to not hang a campaign on one player – ESPECIALLY your GF. Cthulhu knows, I made such a mistake enough… š
WAT
“Don’t you understand? Once Sephni is safe… it’s over”
“When this is over, I am going home. And I am never coming back here again”
But she isn’t safe, that’s the plan.
OUCH THAT SMARTS YO, Hitin me with dem feels and shit,
Wait, is it over?
And this is why personal issues between players should be dealt with outside of the game!
Its a game people not therapy.
On a more positive note I look forward the the creator’s next project.
Jen, wait, come back! noooooooooooooooooo
Wait, this is the end of the webcomic?! No more strips?
Nooooooooo!
Oh my.
Brian is a jerk, quite clearly… but, anyhow, I thought all the time it was a “real” story in a fantasy setting, I was immersed, and this is pretty much a letdown. Nah, never ever agin mix round and pointy ears.
He’s been hinting at it for a long time now
I didn’t get it. Maybe it was “insider” hits for RP gamers?
Did you just never look at the voting incentives? It was pretty heavily hinted at that this was just a tabletop campaign.
I always vote, so I always see the voting incentives. And I do not remember any such hint, sorry (must be incipient alzheimer or something).

No. You’re just an idiot. It was obvious to the rest of us.
Go jerk off with Brian. A twist is a twist, and opinions will vary.
They’d talk like they were in a game (with levels and such) but I just figured that was a joke.
I took them as jokes “beyond the fourth wall”, as part of the setting, not as part of the story.
… I felt a great disturbance in the Storyline, as if millions of Plot Points suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened…
Original way to go but, yeah quite the brutal twist. I am very curious in what is coming next.
I really LOVE the fading colour, it’s brilliant.
Aww don’t end, not like this. Jen, finish the scene at least. It’s annoying when players just up and walk away because of an event in game.
Well, I guess it’s good that she didn’t just flip the table.
so is there going to be some kind of epilogue or real world pages or is it just ending here?
I think the voting image says it all. Bree is no longer with us.
Oh…. š®

You know it’s sad to see it end like this… But it does give a new perspective on all that happened…
Jen being seperated from the main group, they going on their own journey her her own…
Though he does seem to be obsessed with nudity…
well this went meta
I really certainly hope this isn’t the end of the story š I liked it a lot but this would be one of those I regret having read it cases. that is beyond depressing.
Well then, shit just happened. e.o
I see a definite lack of a “The End” note at the bottom of this strip. I don’t think this is the end folks.
Jen is the hottest roleplayer ive ever seen. lol
This makes me sad. If this is how it all ends i’m really going to miss this webcomic.
No it’s not over. Vote for the comic to see the image that foreshadows what’s to come.

I see, thanks for explaining, Maju and Zero.
Now I’ll have to read the archives even more so. š

Oh no! Not the 4th wall!
it is the most important one.
Ah, I know that feeling well. I left my last gaming group after the GM and the rest of the party (including the fucking PALADIN) decided it was a cool idea to genocide my character’s species.
HAH! Somewhere I had a feeling this was all just some kind of game. Not exactly how I expected the reveal, though.
Wait a minute… that guy’s wearing a MSC NOVA shirt. They’re in College Station!
Howdy!
Howdy!
Glad somebody finally caught that!
Just a little shout out to my fellow NOVAds out there, wherever you are.

Did we really need to shift the story like this? I was far more invested in the whole fantasy thing than anything else.
