Isn’t it always the guy with the potato nose that thinks with his lizard brain and wants to show just how tough he is? The other two didn’t seem to have that level of aggression until they were led into it.
Actually, they goaded him into it: they wanted to fight, but he was their ranking officer so couldn’t do anything without his orders (if they had survived, they could have blamed him for giving the order)
I legitimately do not know how anyone can follow what is happening in this comic. Nothing on this page makes sense, and yet again we have abruptly left another scene in progress for this complete non-sequitur. I’ve been vainly trying to follow this comic since it’s inception, and ever since the whole two-worlds concept came into play it has degenerated into schizophrenic ramblings. It’s frustrating to read this thing.
The last we saw these two, Imugi was telling Seph how someone (or some thing) was trying to prevent her from sitting on the throne (aka the control chair for the game)
You must not watch a lot of tv or movies, unless they are singularly focused on one character: any show that has more than one active character or multiple groups will ‘shift scene’ to show what the others have been doing, sometimes it’s a mini-flashback to show that what they were doing was at the same time as the group just left, normally leading to them meeting up again
Just look at LoTR: you had the initial group of nine who split up into, what, two or three groups, and would often ‘abruptly’ switch between them with little or no warning (and then you saw those groups splinter up even further)
At least with something like this webic, you can more easily go back to catch up on what happened
I feel your pain bro: the many lines are dispersing to converge at some point and that day the story will end.
Or rather we had an interlude with the monk elves of the green bell (and something about a dragon inside that interlude) and now we’re at another interlude in which devourer queen Sephni, having defeated death a million times already is back home with her new grayzoner ninja kitty (of whom we know almost nothing yet, granted, only that she’s from the Kingdom of Manga somehow).
So yea, feel the pain, Sephni can heal it, it’s still painful.
Not knowing what’s going to happen next, and following the different characters in the sub-plots, is part of the fun. It’s called tension and drama. If you want a simplistic, straight-line dumbed-down story, then fine, go elsewhere. Never understand why people express this kind of negative criticism, but keep coming back for more, if they so hate it. Answer quite simple, change the channel. Watch something else.
As for me, I’m fascinated by how all this will eventually lock together, and where it might next.
In the meantime, the characters are fun, and the artwork is excellent.
Yups, multiple divergent threads that come together to tell a whole glorious story 😀
Sometimes, for me, it is the not knowing how they all fit together that keeps me coming back 🙂
It just goes back in her inventory whenever she’s not using it. 8) I know it seems a bit arbitrary, but every graysider comes from a specific time period in our world and has their own way of interacting with and perceiving the rules of the world they now find themselves in.
Plus it saves you having to illustrate the sword every time when you want to concentrate on the sexy girl sword-holder instead! I have no problem with that. Wish we could all have a pocket universe occasionally!
Seph is back home and her subjects are dying to see her…
Just another day in the Delve…
That’ll teach them to obey orders next time!
So, who is the King? “It’s always someone you know.” said the Mindripper to Bree.
Another shape-shifting dragon? No, too obvious.
Sephni certainly looks every inch the Queen. Fabulous dress. Bathroom’s free now, if anyone wants to use it! No one?
* The orders were for your protection!
* I think we can handle one little girl.
I am actually old enough to understand this reference. Can’t believe it was over 20 years ago…
Too late to have a change of heart… now that your heart has a hole in it
Obviously Captain Potato-Nose didn’t pay attention to what she did at the gate…

Has there been a Red Fang coup? They were the ones most determined to stop Sephni. That figure in panel one.
Nah, Red Fangs are simply the spies and assassins: they do what they are told to do, the others are either simply palace guards or regular army

PS – The Kingdom of Manga is also known as the Empire of the Rising Black Hole.
Feels like we missed a couple steps to get here.
Yeah, I prefer a more linear storytelling style.
Maybe the next chapter will offer a bridge.

I take it that Imugi keeps her blade in a pocket universe like Bree does her dagger? Or does it just come into existence when needed?
