In the interest of better empathizing with my characters, I got a tetanus shot on Friday, so for most of the weekend, I felt about as good as Paige is probably feeling right now. The most tragic part was that it was the first nice weather we’ve had here in the past four months. At least the kids got to play outside.
Finch can crab her hand so he is alive. Good news.
But can magic restore the eye?
… and leg? I mean, I suspect it was HIS leg the orc was eating few pages back.
the blot of blood over the letter “H” of “Andrew Hunter” in panel 5 kind of hints towards another body part in need of healing magic
Yeah, noticed that as well
Probably won’t be any lil Finchlings in the future (unless that was something already started… )
Sephni’s magic collar could restore the whole body so I think it’s all down to whether Paige can spend the amount of magic needed or not.
Sefni colar uses divine powers. Well, Devourer is not the strongest god in universe, but still…
Volo’s Ersatz Eye, problem solved.
Paige is also in a world of hurt from slamming into the tree, and Breenifer went into Hulk mode taking off that orcs head.
Guess we’ll see the limits of how Paige’s healing goes here… and if she tried to heal him too impulsively…
Doubt the foot is ready to be reattached this way…
Side note just noted the title of this page.
To be continued…?
Well, she’s casting the second most powerful healing spell in Wizardry, so maybe it’ll do some good?
About the most we’ve seen it replace is lost blood but when Damina noted she felt “everything go crunch” and indicated she couldn’t feel anything which suggested full spinal damage, Bree used the same spell and completely healed her.
She did a small amount of healing on herself at least twice and had to repair a chunk that was bitten out of Bree so she might not have been able to cast the spell at a particularly high level.
At the very least though she’s stabalised him. The tree hit had a good krunch to it so she might need to heal her own spine when she has regained some mana.
That was healing broken bones, not replacing parts, like an eye or a foot (and a penis)
Let’s hope Paige’s healing spell includes replacement parts, like his lower leg and (from the look of things) his manhood bits. While Bree has gone all dark-side again, poor Paige is really going through the wringer, but I guess Bree won’t be sneering at her magic powers after this.
Some great action panels her – Paige still looks great in Jen’s pocket world outfit, even more so with a boob out, great body. Hope Finch get to appreciate it! Can we put the zombie orcs to bed now?
Fairly sure he was the last of them: it was a small warband or scouting party (that gobboe still has to pay for killing the archer)
I’m not sure there’s much left to save.Finch didn’t move, Paige wrapped his arm around hers. On top of all the other injuries, losing a leg means you’re going to bleed out real fast. Can’t heal the dead or possibly you could but it seems you’d still be dead with a perfectly healed corpse.
He didn’t just lose a leg, he lost his tackle as well
Good thing those friendly orcs were there to tie that tourniquet!
So, you saying the foot Chief Zomborc was nomming on wasn’t Finch’s?
Have we seen the spell “Dialma” before? Don’t feel like binging the entire comic for it without asking before if someone actually remembers it…
Finally went and binged it… Every verbal spell usage in Delve
Page, spell, effect, language:
Not included: spells used with no verbal components, and Orcish shaman magic (long-ass verbal component)
Elven spells:
87 – “milwa”; light
147 – “mazorfic”; lightning bolt
298 – “litofeit”; resilient sphere / feather fall
419 & 606 – “dialma”; Full healing, beyond normal healing spells
436 – “badios”; unknown, likely a touch-ranged attack
598 – “dios” touch-ranged healing
—————-
Dracomage / drakon spells:
231 – “teleportius”; teleport
277 & 299 – “infernius magnus”: lava strike
288 – “magmus magnus apocalanch”; lava elemental
296 – “bondagio infernio”; fire bindings
297 – “rebondius arcanus”; fire force field
—————-
Orcish spells:
403 – “bleye”; blindness
407 – “orgrind”; unknown, but likely impressive
—————-
Brambling spells (likely in Elvish)
371 & 456 – “omra”; short-ranged teleport / classic dimension door
372, 376 & 455 – “dim-door”; portal-based dimension door
453 & 567 – “duo-door”; two-person portal-based dimension door
In short: Dialma is the spell Paige used to fully heal the horribly mangled (“I felt everything go crunch”) Damina, and is likely powerful enough to heal Finch’s every wound. Not sure if it would be able to regenerate missing body parts.
ADDENDA (because I can’t edit the post, that’s why):
Another Elven spell slipped past. Sorry. 🙂
397 – “manifo”; paralysis / temporal petrification.
For those who have recognised the Elven spells as having the same command words as the old game Wizardry, note that the effects seen in the comic do NOT correspond 100% with the effects seen in the game. For a very dramatic example, Litofeit would have, in the game, transported both Tashe and Kestrel safely to their home, intead of preventing fall damage JUST for Tashe and without transporting her away. Plus “manifo” would have caused sleep, not paralysis. And other minor changes. Also in the game “Dialma” is a medium-power healing spell, and the “heal everything broken thing inside her body” spell would have been “Madi”.
TL;DR – it’s Wormius comic, in his comic spells work like he says they work, not like the game where he got the names from says they work in the game.
We shall see exactly what effect Dialma has in Finch, shal we?
Very good! Thanks for finding all those! I hadn’t realized until now that the dracomage and the drakons were using the same school of magic, but, in retrospect, it makes perfect sense that they do.
Wow, very much thanks for the reference and time spent.
I’m gonna be brutally honest here (about myself) i’ve followed this comic since the early days, and right after the band part and the slime girl “dying” i lost track of everything and no matter how many times i re-read it i’m still just as confused @-@
BADIOS had the effect of inflict HARM on a enemy. Basically a magic punch so to speak.
