The Winners and the Lost

For those of you asking where Capria the shadow elf went in the narrative. She still has a part to play, though it looks like she arrived a bit late to the show.

I’m almost as confused as the Lizard King, honestly.
Anyhow if the elf guy didn’t want to be the Holy Appetizer why did he take the collar? Seems like not even he understood his own plan. What brings us to the drow chick, I guess… (sorry I have a hard time remembering names of secondary characters).
He didn’t take it, I think. I read http://thisis.delvecomic.com/NewWP/comic/paresthesia/ last panel and http://thisis.delvecomic.com/NewWP/comic/sweet-nothings/ first panel as Sephni sneakingly collaring him.
OK, maybe you’re right but then why didn’t he realize something was wrong when: http://thisis.delvecomic.com/NewWP/comic/last-laugh/
I think he was just thinking at that moment “hey, cool, I’m not dead! It’s not what I planed, but it beats being, like, dead!” without realizing that HE would wind up inside the Devourer’s belly wearing the collar – the fate he intended for Sephni. I think that, at that point, he actually thought for a second that he would end up with BOTH his original plan AND the collar, and OUTSIDE said belly. Small wonder he had that shit-eating smug grin upon his face. Which makes his face at being shit-covered in this comic more grin-worthy.
I think his plan was:
1. Wear the collar to have resurrective immortality.
2. Sacrifice Sephni to summon the Devourer.
3. ???
4. PROFIT!.. of some sorts?
I mean, I don’t know why he didn’t just stop at step 1 and went into research on damage resistance instead — probably he thought that the Devourer would uh, grant it to him? He was pretty damage resistent, after all.
I think his plan was rather:
1. Feed a collared Sephni to the Devourer
2. Tell the Devourer that he had been the one feeding him an eternal snack
3. ???
4. PROFIT
where step 3 is not just the meme, it’s actually Kindall never actually explained, mentioned or discussed how the heck he was gonna tell Brian “hey, that was me” nor how he would bargain with him, let alone get Brian to hold his side of the bargain.
Cultists who worship eldritch abominations tend to be bat-shit insane, suicidal, or both.
These fast updates. I don’t … I don’t know how to handle it!
The look on Phawkes face. And looks like Kindal found out the downside to wearing the collar. ??
>The look on Phawkes face.
Well, he was getting a hug and a wink from a naked gyneform being, that being Teal. What would one expect him to do given his preferences?
We know for his… learning with an enthusiastic shamaness that he’s not actually oppossed to that – he’s just “predisposed” (his words) towards his given preference.
(That being fat cuddly smartass thespian Angoras wearing dapper Ascots.)
I’d say that rather, he’s internally sighing at Teal’s line.
You can tell the girl in the left hand side of the first panel is thinking: “I nearly wrenched my shoulder out of socket, why aren’t you thanking me?”
Plus nice to see Capria again! …Why do I have a feeling she has clothes for most of those still naked?
Read the entire comic in a single sitting. Again.
You know? For something that attributes its existence to showing as much naked boobs as possible, it’s a still a really great fantasy adventure!
Thank you!

I’d be tempted to change that to “Because it’s something…”
But no, your point is valid. The plot is really good in itself and the nakedness only enhances it. Enhances it considerably, IMO, but that’s just IMO.
isnt the devourer just the mouth of something bigger? Maybe Bre’s next adventure?
For Tasche to be a vamp elf, she sure is acting like she has a pulled muscle
Well, vampires can take injury. Immortal doesn’t mean invulnerable. It just takes either a lot of injury or a very specific attack to put one down completely.
Vampires also generally heal very fast. But healing fast doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt.
A dislocated shoulder still hurts, even if you are a vampelf
Butt what hurts the most, is the no gratitude for saving the ditzy princess
Wait, if Kindall and Jen made it out, where is the rat? o_O
Did anyone check the trunk of the car?
Maybe he and his spirit form have a little bonding that needs to be done. Wait… If he comes back to life, does Phawkes have to kill him again?
Returning to Teal and Phawkes, I now wonder about the demise of the Devourer. There was that panel in which Teal gave a very victorious/satisfied Yesss and then Phawkes shot Big D with a Caring Magic loaded round.
Did Teal and Phawkes have a plan there? What was she Yesssing about? Did the CM goo on the bullet initiate the meltdown?
Questions, questions…
Delve book 1 arrived today. It was great to reread the beginning. The insights, especially page 42f, make this a great start, and I am looking forward to further books. Thanks for sharing this with your readers!
Thank you! Sorry that I’m just now seeing the comment for some reason.
I think if this was an end of a “chapter 1” so to speak…The following song could be used as an ending score:
That brought back memories. 8)
