She may know how they work regarding wielding a blade, but not so much for punching or grappling or any other use. A sword’s experience is rather limited in that respect.
I also had thought it was male. Something about being obnoxious and arrogant just made me assume it was a guy, I think. Not that there aren’t women with those characteristics, there’s just more guys who are.
So, the sword is long and hard, and generally participates in a lot of thrusting and penetration when it is not busy sliding in and out of it’s tight little scabbard, so you assumed it was male. Hmmm, I don’t get the connection….?

I imagine that she was not all that trusting of someone who was on top of her with a hand around her throat. I wouldn’t be. (Yes, I know she started it. One doesn’t have a lot of opportunities to develop social skills when one is a sword.)
If it makes you feel any better, she will most likely be regretting her actions when she looks up and sees the audience of armed monsters and realizes she has knocked out her only potential ally.

Wouldn’t that be redundant, since getting turned into a statue is how they got here in the first place?
