Blind Fury reference! An awesomely campy, fairly terrible and ultimately rewatchable movie. I recognize that upward sword slash! I probably caught it on replay as many times and every time was like, ‘hell, why not!?’
Love how the blindness effect plays into the artwork, nicely done!
Rutger Hauer was criminally low profile actor. You can’t say he is underrated because overwhelming majority of thouse who ever saw his work rates him pretty high even in most craptastic movies he participated; his talent is indisputable, he is pretty well known; his legacy continues to successfully outshine ones of most of the movie super-stars wildly popular during his time. And yet, as his legend persists, he grows more and more as a cult icon, rather than popular persona. There is a saying that popular movie is one that ten thousand people saw ten times, while cult one is movie that ten people saw ten thousand times. Just as Hauer’s fate is written, it seems… Which may be to the best.
Also, I do consider Hobo with a Shotgun to be the one true spiritual successor to the Blind Fury, and there’s nothing you can do to dissuade me.
Agree, lots of under-the-radar quality flicks, and frankly his rewrite/adlib of the ending of the first blade runner was one of the most memorable parts of that movie.
Others can see just fine as long as Bree can see clearly. Which means she, they, and we can see jack shit, and Jack left the world in one of previous strips. Thus, she is surrounded by darkness, therefore all we can see is a black background and Bree – since even when you close your eyes you can still “see” yourself. Well, feel, rather – but I gonna assume you caught my flu.
Dark shadow of her assaulter on lighter canvas serves as a testament to her (or, rather, one of her symbiont’s) abilities, since she is able to parse his position, however roughly, even in such sorry state – and when she concentrates (with a little help from a certain figment of mind), fuzzy silhouette is suddenly filled with more distinct contours and colours: now even without her eyes she can “see” him, through her perception the inhabitants of the blade can “see” him, and though the medium of art so do we.
ohh wow, Bree at the last panel looks almost sinister with the darkened eyes.
Breaking the fifth wall – it should be an Olympic sport!
So the movie came out back in 1990….. Hmmmm…. Must be one of those dollar movies….

This wasn’t the sort of fingering he was hoping for but it was the one he deserved.
Heh heh
why everyone eyes dark , except bree cus i remember bree got hit by something which make sense to this
SB01, the others see the world through Bree’s eyes, so when she got blinded, they did too. At least that’s my take 🙂
Indeed.

ah i see
I have to admit the seventh panel, the quick draw fingers slice, looks bad ass!
Thank you!
My brother once wore Rutger Hauer’s wetsuit during the filming of Past Midnight.
Absorbing his power!
Called it!
Well, a different form of blind fighting, butt still 😛
