And before anyone asks… no, she’s not gonna eat him.
Update:
I wanted to let y’all know that “Mimic” is now available on merch in my Teepublic shop!
And you can watch me ink and color it on my YouTube channel!

Heck! I now feel bad for Miko… she deserved better! I mean, she’s sweet and caring and all that… Tuul, y’asshole, I would go kick your tail for causing her such grief if I could go into this story!
but will she cook him?
Don’t think “spit-roasted” counts as “natural.”
I think if she cooks him it will be to make sure that she makes an ash of him, not dinner. Return his remains to the environment, perhaps.
In an age & in societies that we living today would call “relatively primitive,” cremation was a common funerary service (& still is).

Although it’s clearly not the first one in Delve, it surely feels like the first real death.
Yeah… I feel that. While some of the others stuck with me too, this one is one of the most impactful.
it’s the proximity – for the others we didn’t deal with the aftermath.
Rat and jelly deaths were more supernatural, this one is more merely material, as if Tuul has no afterlife at all.
What about the rest of Tuul’s cult?
No idea, I was just commenting on my perception of the moment as different to the rest.
It has been said that a hero is not necessarily someone who is braver than everyone else, but more like someone who stays brave for longer than everyone else.
Circle of life. I can respect that. Pity that Draxxorel has twisted it so.
See, that’s why studying biology is useful: then you’d know that simply burying the dead *does* return the flesh back to “the cycle of consumption and rebirth”.
No offense ladies, but neither of you were around when he died, so you can’t know how brave he was or wasn’t
Uh? Why? What’s the point of this?
Miko may not have been “there” entirely in mind, but she was “present”. It isn’t guaranteed that she couldn’t observe his actions, even if she couldn’t process until Zach died (we’ll have to wait and see). Also, context clues. She’s all ready well aware of the kind of person Tuul is.
As for Thessali, yes it could be just comforting words, but it could also just be astute observation. The scene presented to her can only have so many leading scenarios (even if she doesn’t have all the info or all the correct info), and that’s *if* she wasn’t filled in off screen.
Regardless, this seems like an odd response.
This now begs the questions: Sephni could have put the collar on him and healed him, so why didn’t she? If Miko understood that Tuul wanted to be eaten after he died, then why was Miko so angry with Sephni for fulfilling his last wish?
He did push pretty hard not to be saved (https://thisis.delvecomic.com/NewWP/comic/calling-it/), and his last experience with being hurt and saved was not a pleasant one (https://thisis.delvecomic.com/NewWP/comic/first-aid/ and https://thisis.delvecomic.com/NewWP/comic/wrapping-up-2/).
As for Miko being angry, well, just because you love someone, doesn’t mean you have to share their values, nor understand them. Limited exposure to his beliefs, and exposure to Spheni’s crazy and her weird powers paints a less than pleasant picture.
He asked her not to, and begged her to honour her promise to him
Didn’t they cover earlier the collar would only work if you still had the will to survive? I also think Miko’s anger would be more due to she came around to the sight of Sephni eating him.
[meta] that t-shirt reminds me of the US tour of the long-dead young Egyptian king and some of the swag that accompanied his entourage: a t-shirt displaying proudly a pair of images of his death mask overlying the caption “Don’t touch mu Tuts”.
Now I’ve got the Steve Martin song stuck in my head!

Ai, Miko. You are a good person.
Where will there be a place in the Delve for you?
Maybe one of the pocket universes?
Not complaining, but am curious. Why is Miko now naked?
Sacred duties require sacred clothing, I guess.
That makes sense. Have to admit we don’t know all of tje cultural intricacies of the Delve, and the civilized part of mybrain does wonder. Guess in the absence of ceremonial robes, nude works.
That or she doesn’t want blood on the little clothes she still has. Likely will lose those soon too.
A fair question. As I considered it, Miko’s clothing, as it was, would have been covered with Tuul’s blood after the battle, and she has since taken the time not only to wash herself, but to clean Tuul’s wounds and prepare his body for interment. The bandage on her hand is to cover the blisters she received from vigorously wielding her ladle in a manner for which it was not designed.
Even though Miko said it, it seems she doesn’t understand the ‘consumption’ part, which is ironic considering she’s a chef
Thessali forgot a word: “successfully”. He died successfully protecting the ones he cared about. Indeed THE most glorious way to go.
